Elinor Donahue

Elinor Donahue has been enchanting audiences for over three generations. The last several decades, she has warmed her way into our hearts as "Princess" on FATHER KNOWS BEST, charmed us as the girl next door on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW and intrigued us as "Hunnicut" the evil nurse in DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Originally from Tacoma, Washington, Elinor began her long career in show business at the tender age of two, appearing on radio and in vaudeville. By the time she was five, she was placed under contract to Universal Studios and completed her first film, MR. BIG with the legendary Donald O'Connor.


Elinor switched over to MGM Studios at age nine and by the ripe old age of 13, she was working as a freelance actress in Holly wood. In her late teens, Elinor was cast as "Betty Anderson" (Princess in FATHER KNOWS BEST which today remains one of the best loved classic television series of all time. Other feature roles followed including THE ODD COUPLE, MULLIGAN STEW, PLEASE STAND BY, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF BEANS BAXTER and GET A LIFE.

Always having a natural affinity for acting, Elinor has guest-starred in many television series over the years, such as NEWHART, THE GOLDEN GIRLS and MURDER SHE WROTE. Daytime series include SANTA BARBARA, GENERATIONS, and DAYS OF OUR LIVES. She also appeared in the feature film PRETTY WOMAN. Most recently, Elinor has appeared on COACH, FRIENDS and ELLEN, as well as THE INVADERS, PART II & I for Fox Television. She also appears on DR. QUINN MEDIC INE WOMAN where she plays "Rebecca," Dr. Quinn's eldest sister.

Bringing her talent to the stage, Elinor has appeared in CRITIC'S CHOICE, MURDER AMONG FRIENDS, TRIBUTE and ALONE TOGETHER, among others. Most recently she appeared in NEVER TOO LATE at the "New Theatre" in Overland, Kansas.
Her voice has been heard on numerous commercials and cartoons. She has voiced "Princess Eleanora" on PRINCE VALIANT and currently is the voice of "Mom" on EEK THE CAT for the Fox Children's Network.

Elinor is the mother of four grown sons and resides with her husband Lou Genevrino, in Palm Desert, California.
